folk and roots music classes for babies, toddlers, "big kids" and their grown-ups
Little Roots is an engaging community music experience founded on the belief that music is for everyone.
As lifelong musicians, Little Roots creators, Annie Lynch Stevenson and Maggie Shar, recognize the value of quality live, interactive music from birth onward. Maggie and Annie select and write songs that are rooted in a variety of folk music traditions and are intentionally enjoyable for people of all ages. The repertoire is fun and accessible, including elements of storytelling and exposure to various instruments.
Early childhood music classes are centered around each child's natural inclination to sing as they learn to speak and dance as they learn to walk. Children (and their "grown-ups"!) will enjoy group singing with guitar, banjo, or ukulele to accompany, shakers, hand and stick drumming, bells, movement, dance, and more.
School-age classes provide a social, play-oriented setting for kids to continue building musical intuition alongside technical ability.
