Little Roots Big Kids is a 45 minute drop-off class designed for a small group (6-8 children) of five to seven year olds. Big Kids will participate in group singing in unison, call and response and simple rounds. We will explore music through movement, including circle songs and rhythm activities. Students will also learn basic rhythmic concepts and simple polyrhythms on the gathering drums and other hand and mallet percussion. Similar to Little Roots Family classes, there will also be songs and activities where Big Kids can explore music through imaginary play. There is great value in creating early musical foundations in community, with friends and peers to collaborate, interact and play with while learning.
